Welcome to the automated monitoring station for the Geneva area (RX Antenna at Maxxima Studio)


Data are refreshed every 5 hours (stations are analysed in sequence of about 20 minutes, time stamps are displayed on pictures results) Results on this page are presented for information purpose only and cannot be used as A 'legal' reference measurement, It depends strongly on reception conditions and for this reason are not 100% accurate ! Deviation can be higher than the reality due to multipath effect, perfect measurement can be done only at the sample output of the transmit chain itself or with a minimum of signal reflection. When reception conditions are perfect, result accuracy on this page are: Deviation on real content +/- 2 kHz, Modulation Power +/- 0.2 dBr, Pilot Deviation 0.2 kHz RDS deviation +/- 0.3 kHz, Pilot to RDS phase error 0.3 deg.

MPX power in Switzerland is limited to a maximum of 3 dBr (following the ITU BS 412-7 recomandation), This is not the case in the French area , explaining the difference in loundness usually noticed beetween the two countries radio stations (mainly when listening to private broadcasters). The loudness is controlled by the sound processing chain before the FM transmitter. By looking at the MPX power long term (yearly) averaging graph, you may notice a clear variation (step). It is often due to a sound processing changes (preset, chain...from the station ;)
